Getting to Sunshine Coast
Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast is easily accessible from Brisbane, about a two-hour drive north along the Bruce Highway before following signs through Eumundi or Tewantin into Noosa. If you don’t have a car, several shuttle bus services operate directly from Brisbane Airport and Sunshine Coast Airport, making it a convenient option for visitors. From Sunshine Coast Airport, the drive is just under 40 minutes. Public transport is also available, with Queensland Rail trains running from Brisbane to Nambour or Cooroy, where you can connect with a local bus to Noosa Junction. Once you arrive, the town is very walkable, with most attractions, beaches, and the national park close together.
Climate and Clothing
In summer (December to February), Noosa Heads experiences hot and humid conditions, with temperatures averaging between 20–28°C. It’s the perfect season for swimming, surfing, and enjoying the beaches, but the sun can be intense. Lightweight, breathable clothing is best, along with swimwear, sandals, and a wide-brimmed hat for sun protection. Sunscreen is a must, and sunglasses will make long days outdoors more comfortable. Since summer often brings afternoon showers or storms, packing a light rain jacket or umbrella is also a good idea.
